Business scandals and allegations of fake news reinforce the importance of integrity in the professional world. It happens to be a core component of the Lakeside Events culture. We maintain it in a variety of ways, one of which is heeding the wisdom of reputable leaders. By emulating their examples, we reinforce integrity throughout our team.
As Oprah Winfrey said, for instance: “Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody’s going to know whether you did it or not.” We teach our people to act in alignment with their principles not for any recognition or reward they will receive, but because it is what’s right. W. Clement Stone’s insights support this point. He said, “Have the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right. These are the magic keys to living your life with integrity.”
We’ve learned that moments of calamity are the biggest challenges to integrity. When people can maintain their beliefs in the face of hardship, we know they are authentic, trustworthy, and sincere. Chinua Achebe recognized this fact when he said, “One of the truest tests of integrity is its blunt refusal to be compromised.”
When our associates work through the Lakeside Events leadership training program, they explore and maximize their own integrity. They’re also reminded of Zig Ziglar’s assertion, “It is true that integrity alone won’t make you a leader, but without integrity, you will never be one.”
Keep these lessons in mind as you develop into a leader, and like Lakeside Events on Facebook to learn more about our commitment to integrity.
